The competition is getting tougher as we enter the final leg of the group games in Pakistan Super League 2020. The next game between the Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators would be a very important for the Gladiators.

They have lost their last four games and must win this one to retain their chances of making it to the playoffs. The Multan Sultans have already earned their place in the playoffs riding on good form.

The Quetta Gladiators seem to be low on confidence. They had started the season well and looked all set for good performances but their form has betrayed them. Batsmen are struggling for the side at the moment and the bowlers have been bowling all over the place.

The Multan Sultans are playing as a well-gelled unit at the moment and they would be looking to carry their form into the next match.

Shan Masood would be pleased with the way his team has performed so far in the tournament. With five wins they have booked a place for themselves in the playoffs. In the last game they defeated the Islamabad United by 9 wickets and looked in excellent form. Masood would want his side to build the momentum with a win in the next game and start preparing for the playoffs.

The opening pair of James Vince and Zeeshan Ashraf has been in great form and the side would look up to them to provide another good start to the side. The middle order looks strong with Moeen Ali and Shan Masood looking in good form. Rilee Rossouw has already made a hundred in the tournament and makes the lower order strong in company of Shahid Afridi.

Their bowlers are looking in good form at the moment with Sohail Tanvir and Junaid Khan bowling well with the new ball.  Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Ilyas will look to tie down the opponents during the middle overs of the game. The presence of Imran Tahir in the attack offers them big edge going into this game.

James Vince, Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir will be the three players to watch out for in the next game for the Multan Sultans

Expected Playing XI:

Shan Masood (c), Zeeshan Ashraf (wk), James Vince, Rilee Rossouw, Moeen Ali, Khushdil Shah, Shahid Afridi, Imran Tahir, Mohammad Ilyas, Junaid Khan, Sohail Tanvir

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side had started the season on a positive note but in the last four games they have not been able to match their potential. With four losses they have dropped to the bottom of the points table find themselves in a must-win game that would keep their hopes of qualifying into the playoffs alive. Sarfaraz would want his team to put behind the losses and focus on playing well in the next game.

Their batting is looking weak at the moment with openers Shane Watson and Jason Roy having dropped in form. They will need to come up with a stronger show in the next game for the side to win. The likes of Ahmed Shehzad, Sarfaraz ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz will need to play well in the next game. Ben Cutting and Azam Khan down the order will have to make bigger contributions for the side against a quality bowling attack.

Their bowling attack has been torn away in the last few games and this is one area the side has to fix ahead of this contest. Mohammad Hasnain has been expensive and he can’t afford to let the opponents run away with the game. Mohammad Nawaz has looked good and he will target early wickets. Fawad Ahmed, Zahid mahmood and Sohail Khan must come up with better bowling performances for the side to win the next game.

Jason Roy, Shane Watson and Ben Cutting are the players who will need to do well for Gladiators in the next game.

Expected Playing XI:

Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), Shane Watson, Sohail Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Jason Roy, Ben Cutting, Mohammad Nawaz, Fawad Ahmed, Mohammad Hasnain, Azam Khan, Zahid Mahmood

In the last two games played at this venue the sides chasing the score have registered big wins. It has been a trend so far in the PSL where teams have preferred to put opponents into bat after winning the toss. The pitches have stayed good throughout the course of the game and we expect the side winning the toss to bowl first in this game.

The pitch at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore has produced lots of runs in the past few games. The wicket has been flat where the bowlers have struggled with their rhythm. Batsmen can easily play on the up on this surface. Given the conditions we expect the next game also to be a high scoring encounter.

There would be overcast skies over Lahore during the game with good chances of rain as we have seen over the course of the last week. Temperature would be around 17℃ when the game starts and the 71% humidity and 70% precipitation is also on the cards during the day.

Multan Sultans are looking in great form and apart from the one loss so far in seven games the side hasn’t put a foot wrong in the season. Their batsmen and bowlers are doing well and this would give them an upper hand in the game.

Quetta Gladiators have lost their last four games and the side seems to be low on confidence. They are up against the best side of the season and this would surely play on their minds. They will have to play well as a unit to win this game.

Finally Multan Sultans’ batting has been in good form and they have a very strong top order. With Quetta Gladiators’ bowling attack looking in poor shape they would look to exploit this opportunity. The side would start as outright favourites to win this game.
