- The top order batsmen of India have been giving a good start in the first 6 overs
- Rohit has scored five 50+ scores in the last ten T20I’s
- Bangladesh batsmen are not able to capitalize good start into big runs
India and Bangladesh are set to face off in the third T20I with a lot at stake for both sides at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Bangladesh have been trashed by Rohit in the previous T20I. He went bizarre at Bangladesh bowlers hitting sixes all over the stadium. Both the teams will be charged up for the third T20I. It will be an exciting game to watch as it is the series decider.
India will be high in confidence ahead of the third T20. Rohit Sharma continues to deputise as skipper in Virat Kohli’s absence and he will be desperate to turn it around here, so his first priority will be to lead from the front with the bat as they did in the last match. Cyclone Maha was perhaps the major talking point before the start of the 2nd T20I, and thankfully, it stayed away to allow us a full game of cricket. After Bangladesh posted a modest score, cyclone Rohit hit the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot and went absolutely mad during his 43-ball stay at the crease. The Indian skipper belted six fours and six sixes to kill the game inside 10 overs and unfortunately, the visitors had no answers.
With the ball, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal were excellent. Shardul or Rahul Chahar might get a game in for Khaleel, who have had a bad series so far. Apart from that, no changes are expected with Rishabh Pant given another opportunity to prove his credentials.
Bangladesh made history in the opening match but were thrashed in the next game. Even though Bangladesh batsmen play spinners well they have struggled recently against leg spinner Chahal. In this case India might bring in another leg spinner Rahul Chahar to trouble the Bangladesh batsmen looking at the pitch and conditions. Bangladesh are too dependent on the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah to score runs in the middle overs but they required support from the top order to bat deep and anchor the innings. They were few irresponsible shorts by Bangladesh batsmen in the 2nd T20I. Liton Das was lucky to get 2 chances with the bat in the previous game but could not capitalize the missed chances. Their batsmen are not able to convert a good start to big scores.
Bowling on the other hand looks pretty ordinary, frontline bowler Mustafizur Rahman looks like he is lacking rhythm. Aminul Islam is the only bowler bowling well whereas rest of the bowlers lack the experience to bowl under pressure situations.
The team which wins the toss will choose to field first because both teams are good at chasing. Even though teams have won batting first at this venue, the captains will tempted to chase down a target.
Average first innings score: 158
Record of chasing teams: 4 out 11
PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS
It is going to be a good batting surface at Nagpur. The weather conditions will be clear with chances of dew later in the evening.
Bet on India to win this one.
Rohit Sharma, if he gets a good start will continue his good form. KL Rahul is due to score big runs. Yuzi Chahal will be the pick of the bowlers. For Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar will be the key players to watch out for.
India have been far better at chasing than at setting and defending totals in T20Is in recent months. Since the start of 2018, they have a 13-3 record while chasing, and a 7-7 record while batting first. If India bats second, they can chase down the target easily with 8 balls to spare and if they bat first then it will be a close game.
