We are gradually moving towards the business end of the BPL tournament. And, as the teams look to finish in the top-2, Tuesday’s encounter between Chattogram Challengers and Rajshahi Royals is set to be a pulsating one in capital city Dhaka.

The Chattogram Challengers may be in second place right now but they need to ensure that they keep the pressure on the other teams. Two losses in their last four matches puts them in exactly the same boat as the Rajshahi Royals, current form wise.

The performance of the Rajshahi Royals had been outstanding in this tournament. They had played a total of ten matches with seven wins to their name. They had lost three matches and are holding the top position on the points table with 14 points with good run rate.

Imrul Kayes is the top-scorer for Chattogram Challengers with 289 runs from eight innings at an average of close to 50. He has struck at over 130 and has the best of 62.

Chadwick Walton and Fernando have also contributed with 274 and 221 runs respectively. Walton averages 45 and has a strike rate of close to 155 while Fernando has aggregated his runs at 36.3 and has struck at almost 165.

Mehedi Hasan Rana is not only the top wicket-taker for the Challengers in the tournament with 14 wickets from just 7 innings. He has the best of 4/23 and an economy of 6.92.

Rubel Hossain and Liam Plunkett are the two standout bowlers for the Chattogram Challengers in this lineup. Neither has had a great tournament but they have the experience to bounce back strongly.

Bopara has the highest batting average of 64 in the Royals lineup and that shows how fluent he has been. He has also delivered with the ball, picking up eight wickets. Malik has floundered a little of late, but is expected to get his rhythm back. The bowlers have mostly chipped in with useful spells.

With batting line-up of Liton Das, Shoaib Malik and Andre Russell, the Royals have been on the front foot in terms of creating or chasing a huge score. Hossain and Alok Kapali have also made their significant contributions when required. Farhad Reza, Shoaib Malik are the dependable bowlers who have been in good form as of now.

The team which wins the toss will choose to field first as dew-factor will play a big role and help the team batting second.

Average first innings score: 158

Record of chasing teams: 9 out of 16

The pitch at the stadium is considered to be decent for batting but it will offer some help to the spinners like every other surface in the country. A score of around 180 should be considered par at the venue. The weather forecast in Dhaka is good for this match. There are almost no chances of rain and we may have a full match to watch.

These are the two teams occupying the top-most position on the points table and such battles are more often very exciting. Both teams will look stay in the top-2 position and a win here will for either team will see them play the qualifier 1 instead of eliminator.

Rajshahi Royals have been a better team in the last few matches and have that momentum going forward. They also have a pretty balanced side and going by the way they have done of late, placing money on them would be the way to go. Ravi Bopara and Imrul Kayes will be the key players to watch out for.
